Knitting for Health
Meditation research is becoming an interesting field of study for neuroscientists. The “motion of knittingâ€

...I have worked with many muslim pupils who sway, or rock, when reading which I believe is what happens when they learn the Koran. Don't know if it relaxed them and helped them to read...interesting idea...

that is an interesting point vicky as I have found in myself that when I go into a meditative state I sway, it is an involuntary movement...if I lay down I fall asleep, so if I must do serious and precise meditation I sit on my bed, fold my legs so my feet touch each other and the sway begins,,its a very pleasant experience...

Ive never been a knitter and I can understand that the actions of concentration would allow a person to drift into a calm state owing to the repetition of the movement,,,brings to thought the physical relaxation response experienced when watching fish swimming in a tank,,,
I don't believe in charity. I believe in solidarity. Charity is so vertical. It goes from the top to the bottom. Solidarity is horizontal. It respects the
other person and learns from the other. I have a lot to learn from other people.

adults who exercised their brains in their younger years with hobbies like knitting and reading were 2.5 times less likely to have Alzheimer’s disease as they grew older

I just love knitting, I did a lot of Knitting in my younger years, I always found it very therapeutic. its interesting info Uni might be one of the links in why we are seeing more cases of Alzheimer’s, as knitting has become a dying art so is reading with Tv and DvDs, food for thought here. .

Well I thought Knitting was "stressful" all that yelling!

Mom shouldn't have tired to teach a Leftty, a rightty and someone who didn't know their left from their right!

Needless to say if I want to learn this I will have to learn on my own.

Wonder about other kneedle work like cross stitch, or embroidery

Tole painting isn't as it stresses' me out! :o

I don't know what it is I know some find it relaxing and I do enjoy it but its not "fun" for me.

Maybe I had a teacher who was too critical.
What I paint looks nice but maybe I'm overly critical of my own work.

Well I'm already a Reiki Master so maybe I need to review my manual ... was considering re-writing for a younger audience.

Maybe we just need more attunements here at Nat!
