Chocolate and Stress

Chocolate contains valeric acid, which is a relaxant and tranquilliser this and the sugar in chocolate may reduce stress. Sugar has been shown to have a calming and pain relieving effect on babies and animals.
Also the smell of chocolate has been found to slow down brain waves, making us feel more calmer.

Depression

Researchers have done animal experiments that found eating chocolate triggers the release of endorphins (our bodys natural opiates ) in the brain, these are also released during sex, and strenuous exercise, leaving us feeling great, another substance in chocolate is tryptophan this increases the bodys production of serotonin, making us feel calm and happy and lifting our spirits.

Namaste Shimmering light

Blessings to you and yours

There is a South Americac herb called Stevia native to Paraguay used by South American tribes (1887) the Japanese have tested it and the findings show that it is safe for those with diebetes, candida and obesity it is calorie-free :) sounds good :)

May your day be filled with blessings Like the sun that lights the sky,
May you always have the courage To spread your wings and fly!

You are suggesting a stevia chocolate?

I have heard of this material. It is a sweetener right? Do you have a link to the study results?

WOW, That's a wake-up call for me, as I love diet pepsi, just for the taste not because its diet. But I'm a caffine junky. I should go back to drinking just water agian. But I got hooked on pop and large amounts of caffee because of going back to college having to be up before the butt crack of dawn getting myself and three kids ready. And that will have to start all over again in the fall.(Yippe, not)

Gee I was so excited to find another thread on chocolate and then read up on various sugars.... I do use stevia, I use to use Equal but wanted more natural and without side effects ... no stevia around, sugar in the raw will do....

So is the information still relavent and have they found better answers to above information?

I keep dark chocolate in my freezer and eat a small chunk of it in the evenings while I am relaxing. I had read that dark chocolate is good for you. Whether it is good for me or not, I enjoy it and I don't overdo it! :D
